Apex 2015 Is Officially The Largest Super Smash Bros Tournament Ever

    Super Smash Bros Melee has enjoyed considerable success as a competitive game globally since its release in 2001. After 14 years it is showing no signs of slowing down, with Apex 2015 officially becoming the largest Super Smash Bros Melee tournament ever with 1024 registered competitors. This record was previously held by the Evolution Championship Series, which in 2014 attracted 970 competitors.

    As an added bonus, Nintendo partnered with the Apex Team for the event. While there are no details of what the partnership entails it's great to see that Nintendo is clearly aware of the importance of eSports, a phenomenon that attracts millions of fans across a huge range of global events every year.

     

    Apex 2015, is a 3 day gaming event which starts on January 30 and includes tournaments for all four games in the Nintendo series; Super Smash Bros for the N64, Super Smash Bros Melee for the GameCube, Super Smash Bros Brawl for the Wii, and the recently released Super Smash Bros for Wii U.
