George RR Martin's world of a Song of Ice and Fire is an expansive story that carries the reader across far lands and into bloody combat. Bigpoint has decided to take up the challenge alongside Norwegian development studio Artplant. The MMORPG won't follow the main storyline, but will exist in the world of Westeros.
The game starts shortly after the deaths of King Robert Baratheon and Lord Eddard "Ned" Stark. Players will be able to choose between the Starks of Winterfell, Lannisters of Casterly Rock and the Baratheons of Storm's End. As a member of a smaller house sworn to your liege lord or guild you will be able to use deceit, bribery and even switch allegiences.
Considering that the game will be free to play, there is no reason a fan of the books or series wouldn't want to take up their arms and head into battle.
