Week Three of the inaugral Trinigamers DOTA 2 League started early on Thursday. This is where teams would break from the pack and reveal the true contenders for the title of Kings of the Beta.
In a show of good sportsmanship, Big Gunz agreed to play TftB ahead of the default times on Saturday. For the first time there was a mid-week match up on Thursday. The first game was quite cautious but TftB chose heroes outside of their practice pool and paid the price for unfamiliarity. In game two Big Gunz were more confident of victory and were rewarded with their second straight win. A bit undeserved as TftB have managed to improve throughout the course of the league.
Saturday saw Bloodpack face Section 34 in what was not an even matchup. Bloodpack swept the best of three with two straight wins. S34 needs to go back to the drawing board. Despite a team that contains good players, the chemistry is just not there.
After consulting with league officials througout the course of the week, Experimental Project faced SideStep Gaming on Sunday. SSG were given the opportunity to replace one player, the same consideration was given to Experimental Project. Despite the salvo, EP required the use of super-sub Saga who assisted them to victory. In the second game Experimental Project had their full assembly of players and once more earned the win.
I must note the interruption in the second game of EP vs SSG where team captain of Big Gunz, sHOTTA harassed teams in game which resulted in a pause because he was unclear of the changes made to both teams. This occured after he was spoken to by two admins and explicitly told to leave it alone. No games should be stopped or discontinued unless a situation directly affects the players involved or by an official.
If any team is having difficulties, please contact an official early on and keep us informed. Last minute requests are not usually granted. Big Gunz were granted a couple player changes after the deadline date, more than any other team in the league, as their captain kept us informed of their situation. Favours are quickly forgotten.
Big Gunz 2 - 0 TftB
Bloodpack 2 - 0 Section 34
Experimental Project 2 - 0 SideStep Gaming
5 Big Gunz
4 Experimental Project
1 Section 34
0 SideStep Gaming
We are past the halfway point and we finally have some certainty. Sidestep Gaming and Section 34 will sadly not be contenders for the title, however they can trouble the scorers to put more points on the board next to their name.
TftB has a mathematical chance, a slim one at that. Big Gunz must be patient, persevere and bide their time.
Experimental Project vs Bloodpack this week is a big match. For EP it means survival and remaing a contender. On the other hand, Bloodpack is the only team that can afford to lose and still be in contention. Every game Bloodpack wins from here on out is a hurdle for the rest of the competition, losing 2-1 for them is still a victory and enough to keep them on top the leaderboard.
