So in trying to get competition going, I'm going to start doing tournaments a little more regularly. Let's review the games being played internationally

SF4 - No console version til approximately March 2009. Until then this is out.
SF3 3rd Strike - Most played and most popular SF game in the world at the moment.
Capcom VS SNK 2 - Has seen possibly its last major tournament this year with EVO. Will most likely not return next year.
Super SF 2 Turbo/HSF2 Anniversary Edition - Only old school game still being used.

Even though 3rd strike is the obvious answer, not much people play or even know about 3rd strike that well and instant say no to the old school one immediately!.

Problem is I myself and alot of other ppl would love too see Kof and GGX competitions widen but SF is basically the most popular game down here :( when it comes to fighters .

3rd strike is the best choice but in terms of gettin a large and succesful tourney, i'd say cvs is prolly gonna get u the best turnout

My 2 cents is that if you had to choose one, it boils down between 3s and classic streets. But, if we're pushing for gaming evolution then do 3s. Have to encourage more people to come our

evolution is definitely what we're looking at. Getting people to come out is another story. I know there are many people who play 3s but to get them to come out is another story.

My vote would split between CvS2, 3S and AE. It's one thing to have a tournament of international standards and it's another to have a tourney that no one will come to. My vote is to go with what brings the biggest gathering first. As much as that would pain me, I think it's the better way to go.

We're still in the dark ages down here somewhat. I had an idea to spark some life into the 3s scene. I'll try to get that going to see what response I'll get from that.

you can have a range of fighting games from which fighters must compete in and their overall placings can determine the winner. Say like sf3rd strike and mvc2 and any other random game so its like a 3 game tourney.

Sounds like too much work to me.

That might work for a ranking system but not for a tourney.

Marvel is starting to show its age imo and even though its still huge in the US its pretty much dead everywhere else.

the players are also affected by having more than one titles at a tourney, for a gamer to be switching from 3s mode to mvc2 mode as soon as one match finish can be pretty rough, and many times results in less than a normal performance from an athlete.

We are athletes, and spreading ourselves to thin is a serious problem.

Ok, so from what everyone is saying, right now we're just trying to raise interest of street fighter in general? Seeing as this is the first big thing we're doing after gamers lounge.

Is it possible to do 3's AND AE?

If its popularity you're after AE because any average joe can play AE and possibly win. Whereas in 3's, you have to know what you're doing

I'll devote some time after my net comes back to getting everyone up to speed with 3s. I need to do it too, I haven't played it seriously in a long time.

Watching vids helps alot I must say. I'd advise everyone to do it, and when you're watching it don't watch what they do, but rather focus on what they DON'T do.

Agreed, vids are vital. I've been looking at some vids recently and they never ceases to amaze me. What do you when everyone reads your hi lo mixups like a children's novel?

3rd strike is considered to be stable imo, and its alot better than fighting someone playing A-Groove and getting juggled to death in cvs2

Hyper Fighting or Turbo will always be the best game to show what a player is capable of.

That's right up there with some of the dumbest Street Fighter related shit I've ever heard.

Geese

Figures that someone would say something ridiculous like that. I guess I should go play WC1 to see what I'm capable of.

Hyper people tend to not be able to be good at any other SF other than Hyper. You can spot them from a mile away with that crap.
