The above title is an old saying among Colombians, translated it means quite simply "Talk is cheap" or as I like to commonly say "Deeds not words are how we are deemed worthy." Simple yet very easy to understand, these funny things called words, we throw around everyday and every which way. A wise man once said "The pen cuts deeper than the sharpest sword" and those words are one's we can all learn from. History has shown us time and time again that words have had the power to move great nations to war over the most ridiculous of trivialities.
I have taken a personal sabbatical over the past two years to deal with some personal issues and I have been largely absent from the gaming scene as a result. I recently came back online approximately one month ago and I have quietly been monitoring the gaming situation at large within the country among the top organizations.
First I would like to congratulate the entire TG staff for pulling off another great event and for finally starting to form the type of alliances I felt you needed to look into about two years ago. Better late than never! It seems that the administrative team is really maturing well and beginning to move beyond what I refer to as the "fete match mindset."
Gaming while a pleasure activity for most is serious business around the world and nets billions of dollars annually in revenue. Experts predict within the next decade e-sports will be among the top 5 sports in the world. Among the younger upcoming generation in many traditional european footballing powerhouses it has an equal fan and player base with soccer, based on that statistic logic dictates its only a matter of time before the experts predictions become reality.
The starter paragraph was an opening I felt was necessary for the first topic I wanted to share my humble opinions about. Regarding the atrocious claims by Baego that gatt was the one solely responsible for organizing the lounge event. I recommend that as an organization you do better to ignore him when he does this and save your combined energies for planning the next event, because your voices will be louder with your deeds. The only reason baego does these types of things is to throw the competition off their game, its nothing more than gamesmanship.
Don't waste your time posting on other forums, or even debating as to why he does what he does on your own forums, because you acknowledge "he exists and can affect you" whenever you do this. Somethings in this world no matter how hard you try will never change, so you just accept it and learn to work around it and with enough practice & patience you can even use it to your own advantage.
Regarding the proposed league, I was a bit disappointed to see it has not transpired into reality as of yet. It was also great to see another part of the puzzle was coming together nicely based on the series of successful past events I have read about. On the topic of the league I was approached about a month ago by an International organisation to put together a blueprint for a new league. I would be willing to share that and some ideas with a member of the current active TG admin team.
I have been looking at some of the ideas and rules being used in some of the high profile leagues in DOTA and regular FT internationally and some of my ideas I used in the now defunct AHL are still being used today. I rather not go into details about the ideas for this league on the forums. I need to ensure that the concepts are put to good use by an admin team I trust is interested in the development of gaming in T&T and each and every gamer at heart. If Paradoxx or any other member is interested in doing so they can contact me, I am confident that what I have proposed will be able to get the league off the drawing board and make it a reality.
Lastly I would like to send out a personal invitation to local players who are currently playing WoW. As a gamer I tend to monitor the games that generate the most international attention and then I put my efforts into that particular event. From starcraft to warcraft 3 and now to wow I have decided to again put our country up there in the ranks of the immortals. Currently WoW boasts a subscriber base of around 12million people monthly which is around the population of Switzerland.
Gaming trends change overnight and are brutal, I was never a DOTA fan but I accepted the reality that it was in fact a new trend and I adapted to suit in spite of personal grievances, what is often more important as a leader as Para will tell you is that you must always be adaptable to your membership's needs. I believe right now Blizzard has been putting a lot of work in the Arena aspect of WoW to make it into a serious pro gaming title. With a new expansion due out shortly and big name game houses like MyM SK & others setting up shop in wow. It is my opinion that this is the title with the most buzz internationally or at least one of the top ones. This is going to be the filler game with something to achieve till SC2 pops.
What am I hoping to achieve this time around? Currently I have started a small guild on the ravencrest realm of trinis and some foreigners. I have been learning the game dynamics and instance running while coming up with new ways to do somethings. My goal is by the time wotlk hits, to have World First Kill on a wotlk boss. For those who follow the game closely this is hallowed ground that the likes of only Nihilum and most recently SK WoW have been able to accomplish. With even PVE clans getting sponsorship the attention worldwide such an achievement would bring would augur well for gaming locally as well.
I apologise for such a lengthy post but I was reading a lot about some of the frustrations also regarding why people aren't playing when there are so many more prizes and options today. Its easy for me to be very generic and say Trinis generally are slack and not disciplined enough for gaming, and while this is generally true there are many among us who share the same passion and drive that I know I have as a gamer. Sometimes people need something to inspire them, something that defies ordinary and while things are looking much better everyday.... there should be always a need to excel not just on a local stage but on the one that counts the international arena.
I am confident I can lead yet another clan to the top in another title and that it will help enhance the many strides that have been made by the organisation. If any experienced and even Noobie WoW players are up to this very daunting challenge I welcome you to join us on Ravencrest server, Hoard Faction, my handle is Vipes.
I leave you all with the most important thing I have learned in my sabbatical and that is "Sometimes you have to lose everything to learn something". Always remember "Time reveals all things", life is a circle, after joy comes sorrow, after sorrow celebration. Even after the darkest night there comes a sunrise, never lose faith and let your great strides and deeds in gaming continue to be the deafening roar that Baego knows it is becoming......
