well it's a squad based tactical shooter set in ww2, you play an airborne sarge who leads a well crafted AI squad mates through Nazi infested Germany. the AI squad mates respond to standard commands such as: flank, cover etc. historically accurate battlefields all crafted from recon photos and film as well as eye witness accounts. 20 distinct characters work with you through the game. you use the same standard allies and axis weapons that we have seen ten times over.
as for multiplayer, well this is what the official site said :
Brothers in Arms Road to Hill 30 features a multiplayer game that’s a first for the genre. Featuring revolutionary first person shooter (FPS) gameplay and easy to use squad control, BIA puts players in the role of squad leader in competitive online, goal oriented missions. Just like the single player game, Brothers in Arms multiplayer uses a one-button squad control system to execute real-life fire and maneuver tactics. The multiplayer gameplay has been compared to a single player co-op experience, only in this game, the enemy is also controlled by real human players.
Unlike other WWII action games that only offer generic game modes such as Deathmatch or Capture the Flag, Brothers in Arms offers compelling and unique multiplayer missions that provide a large variety of gameplay scenarios. Whether you’re the American force trying to destroy the enemy antiaircraft guns in “Shattered Wings” or playing as the German force trying to slow the Allied advancement by flooding the fields in “In the Channel,” players are sure to experience a level of exciting team-based action never before seen in this genre.
TeamXbox has posted their review of Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 and here's what they had to say:
With all of the talk of upcoming releases like Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and DOOM 3, it is little surprise that Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 slipped under the radar. That is, until today. Brothers in Arms is now the measuring stick for all war-themed FPS titles thanks to its amazing accuracy, fantastic storytelling, and dead-on presentation... Ubisoft has yet another prized jewel to add to their collection.
IGN has reviewed Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 and the verdict is in:
Wolfenstein, Medal of Honor, Call of Duty... Until today these were the games that defined World War II action on the Xbox. Now you can throw them all away. Not only is Gearbox's Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 the best World War II shooter on the Xbox, it's also one of the best games of any genre for the system.
