Well guys, April's almost out and there have been quite a few new series being released over in Japan, some are follow ups to classic series' and others are based on popular manga over in Japan. I've been fortunate enough to be able to view a few of these new Anime and now i share my thoughts.
Macross Frontier

It's the 25 year anniversary of this franchise that so many of us grew up on, This one is a sequel to the Macross 7 series and focuses on the brand spanking new (though they always look the same) VF-25 fighters! Long story short: a fleet of Human ships moving through deep space is attacked by some Big Insectoid looking aliens and the humans fight back using cool starscream looking transforming fighter/mechas. Production value is high as it uses alot of 3d animation and even licensed music for most of the soundtrack (something they do for all the macross series over the years). The action scenes are pretty cool, the main character is a guy who looks like a girl and he is going to be caught in a love triangle very soon... yeah lil cliched, but the action scenes kick brass, watch it if you like mecha and jet combat.
Allison and Lilia

Any anime fan worth his salt would instantly find this series to be reminiscent of something by Hayao Miyazaki, the settings, the music and even the animation just has his shadow all over it. The series is basically about 2 warring pseudo European countries that literally hate each other for as long as they can remember. One of the Main characters is called Allison, and she is a fighter pilot with the military, they use biplanes btw, so I'm expecting to see some pretty cool dog fights as this series continues. It's cool, feels sorta slow, but it's a nice change of pace. I like it so far.
Vampire Knight

Based on the name alone, I think most people will like the idea behind this anime, it seems like it's about a a school that has normal human students during the day and during the night they accommodate vampire students. These vampirs do not appear to be seriously affected by sunlight and they seem to possess various elemental powers. Their true intentions have yet to be revealed, but i expect to see some really good fights later on.
Soul Eater

I love this series, i love this frigging series! It follows 3 young characters who are training to be 'shinigami', each of the 3 have partners that are actually weapons that can change from human form to the weapon form during combat (kinda like Zangetsu in Bleach). Basically the weapons need to kill and eat the souls of 99 evil people and 1 witch in order to ascend to the next level, kinda like a bankai, lol. The animation style seems kinda childish at first, but it adds to the humor. There is one character called Black Star who reminds me of Naruto in the early days, which is not a bad thing.
check these things out guys, its always good to break away from the main stream anime every now and then.
