well here's the problem, my dvd burner isnt being recognised in one of my machines, but it is being recognised in another machine. could the ide cable be the problem? please help me :D

1. when u say recognized do u mean by the bios or by the os

2. was it working all the time and just stopped? or is it a new rom u installed?



yes it could be the cable... it could be the mainboard... it could be the OS... @ least u know it doesnt seem to be the rom... so thats one thing eliminated

it is not being recognised by the bios. however when i change the drives around ( i.e set the burner to master and the other one to slave ) the burner is recognised and the odda rom is not. so i dunno if the the board or the slave slot on the cable.

set the jumper on the back of both drives to cable select if they are on the same cable. That should fix your problem fast.

if that doesnt work... and u still think is the slave drive

try the drives one @ a time with both ends of the cable in the slave spot...

if all that fails... then u maybe right...

also check ur bios to make sure u din disable d drive ;)

thx a lot guys. When apparently the power cord to the drive wasnt suppling power ( although when i swapped it it was supplying power to the other device:confused: ). Kukka swapped the power cable with a different one and it works now...wooot
