Well, after the death of my faithful Olympus D-460, I may be looking out for an SLR camera, or at least an SLR/Point and Shoot digital camera, within the next month or two.

What can you guys recommend for such a camera? Price limit is $1000 US (inclusive of at least 2 extra lenses for professional work), don't worry about customs (will get cuz to FedEx it as if it was used and we forgot it in the States), and size is no issue - don't really have to have it fit in my pocket or anything, quality and zoom capabilities are everything on this one.

I AM a bit partial to Olympus, but if you all can suggest other cameras that are equal to it in terms of picture quality, that would work as well.

So, what can you ppl suggest?

hmmm... the fact that u interested in a DSLR probably means that you have experience with 35mm SLR cameras. I saw a great deal on an Olympus E-500 with 2 lenses on newegg. One was a fairly everyday use lense (28-90mm) and the other was a great telephoto (300mm) All in all a great camera.

CONS:
uses compact flash as media eeeek..
the eyecup is shifted more to one end than what SLR users are accustomed to.(it would just take a little getting used to)

PROS:
cheap! only $697.99. I am partial to nikon, but couldnt find anything from them to match this deal. (not too sure if i misread it)

you can use the extra cash in your budget to get a good hot shoe flash attachment.
