The bold prediction has been made by CFO Chris Liddell, but repeatedly by Bill Gates, Steve Ballmer and Xbox head Peter Moore as well. Ten million X360's will be sold by the end of the 2006 Christmas season.

Internal company data suggest that 8 million consoles we sold by the end of November. Ten million units have been shipped to stores as of last week. Reaching that point now is a matter of retail sales. Consumers who want a Wii or a PS3 and can't find one, can easily pick up an X360 and reach home in time for dinner.

So what so special about the 10 million mark?

In every console war prior to this, the product that notched that mark first has gone on to dominate the market. Doing it would be very impressive considering that they are yet to play their trump card... Halo 3.

Sega's released the Dreamcast to replace their Saturn, out of the regular generation gap and without any real 'next gen' competition for 15 months until the PS2 was released. The company then decided to stop producing the console due to potential financial difficulties, focusing on software instead.

Now if they continued selling units you might have an arguement there. Right now you're just trolling.

Imagine the amount of gamers that going to be on Live playing Halo 3, i swear they could have some insane matches if they have enough servers.
