Some members dont like java scenes and state that its making the forum GATTY.
I stated that there are other active sections of the forum and that these ppl should make use of those. It is hard to not be distracted with the posts showing up in the VNP list. I propose making an additional VNP with out java scenes posts, do you all think this would help these type of ppl?

Makes sence. I think you can just make a new group, and then let people choose if they want to see the Java scenes forum or not
Basically make it viewable to everyone by default, and then they can change to a group where they can't see it.

Thats also a viable option. Actually do it the other way around, allow certain ppl to view JavaScenes and default no.

well the settings now have it that everyone except guests can see java scenes
:)

Well we are trying to make this a happy place for everyone, I would really like to hear from the ppl that are making these statements and find out any solutions they may want to bring to the table.

U see....you cannot just do that...if they do not want javascenes let them not go into them.

i would like further clarification on what is making that part GATTY

Well my main concern is the topics headings I see appearing lately in the Java Scenes forum are insultive and sometimes uncalled for.

e.g.

"CUCUMBER BREAST GETTING DISRESPECTFUL"

"DarthVader a C0ck Blocker??"

those aint exactly nice to see first thing in the morning.

That's my opinion anyway.

You may now flame me :)

K possible options

1) Increased moderation on JS
2) Make a new group that can see java scenes, invite only.
3) Make a new VNP button that excludes JS

2 and 3 seems cool enough

the rules are in place and so far what broke de rules was deleted

so the moderation isnt a factor really

most of what is posted is watever happens in java

para option number 2 lookin the most feasible

after much thought

i think the best option is simply >

1) default new member accounts cant see JS
2) if they want to see JS, simply make a request to the mods for access

which i guess is #2 on paras list there

that way, anyone visiting the site for the first time wont have access to it

prolly place a note somewhere that they can request it or sumtin so
so those who come on the site for JS, would know to access it they would have to request it

also we can even place a little disclaimer on the description of javascenes

and good moderation practices would also be the last resort if all else fails :)

#2 seems to be the best bet.

I agree with rum when he talked bout this b4 too.Its a lil strenuous but apparently necessary.

hows bout you guys just configger the site not to count post in java scenes as "posts" so it wont add up in your personal profile

that will prevent spammed posts you get what i mean?cuz java scenes really is a just a place to spam like crazy if you take that out of someone post count then youll see how many people actually contribute to the sites development

those two solutions dont deal with the issue

the problem raised about java scenes is a two sided one

1) we have we java peoples, and the ole talk from java must trickle in ... is good kix and adds to the communal atmosphere .. if there was no "Java Scenes" thread, the same topics being posted in JS would have jus been posted in Ole talk anyway

2) outsiders and especially investors who may come to the site at some point in time, may have a problem with the level of ... "raucusness" they might see .. especially as a first time visitor who also knows nothing about java in the first place

i guess the resolution should somehow seek to please both parties

Im going with a suggestion that chunks made, make a group that can see java scenes, only add a select few to it.

hear what......

i think dat we should censor de board like a mc..... stamp out the gay "gatty" theads and only use javascenes 4 more serious business

I still say keep JS to the elite few,
No sensorship, cause only the elite few can read/write.

Xecutiona
01-24-2005, 05:17 PM
yes but how do we detyermine the elite few?

is there a way to password javascenes as an extra part of the site and allow ppl who come java to request viewing privelleges with a password that we give them?

I have no problem with the Javascenses area. Hell, it's all up in fun, but I still say: let the people who involved in said posted incident be able to report to the mods if they feel the thread etc getting insulting to the involved parties.

If the 'elite grouping' thing gonna happen, leave me as a member to see the J.S. thread please-I ain't got a problem with it.

thank you but there are rules set in place for javascenes and judging the number of people there and the number of views on the topic of the rules i dont think that people really know them...i advise that they are read before they post in the area
