im running xp sp2

its a vpn connection that is proxied for outside use...

they blocked all filesharing ports, ports to update antivirus definitions, steam, everything :(

it's called a firewall, and it is working the way it's supposed to...

There probably is a proxy server for you to configure your browser with etc. From this configuration, you can determine exactly which ports are obviously available for use.

There are also programs which listen on different ports (you can configure ranges to test) to see whether they are available, or blocked. google for something like "port tester", "NAT tester" etc etc.

Unfortunately, not much software like this has been developed for the Windows operating system. One app for Windows which i have used for something like this was Hopster.

hopster works by setting up a proxy on your machine which maintains and http connection between you and their server. Hopster's server then decodes the transaction and performs your requests and communication continues via http. The proxy server on your pc then retranslates for the app which sent the packet.

theoretically, this could work for you, once you find the software for it and someone on the outside to host such a server for you.
