On Monday, Seagate announced its Seagate's Maxtor Shared Storage II dual drive configuration. The drives are 500GB each and can be set up for Raid 1, the simplest form of protection for disk drives, as all data is backed up on a second drive immediately.
Two Universal Serial Bus Ports are available to connect and share two USB printers or two additional external storage products, or one of each. Sorting software for organising files is also included.
As we all know, the problem with storing and retrieving large volumes of data usually centers on issues surrounding the speed of the connections between the storage drive and the system using it; that's why to keep things moving, Seagate has what it calls a new high-speed Gigabit Ethernet connection.
Off-site data rotation can be done automatically by scheduling an additional backup to a connected Maxtor OneTouch or Seagate Pushbutton USB external storage system.
Seagate's Maxtor Shared Storage II is scheduled to start shipping this month at data storage dropping price of $US 899.00.
