Famitsu, Japaneses'-language game and entertainment magazine conducted a survey on the PS3's price tag only to discover that eighty-eight [ Yup, eighty-eight! ] percent of readers deemed it too expensive.

This can't be good news for Sony. As if this wasn't bad enough, to make things worse, sixety-nine percent are anxiously anticipating the Nintendo Wii this fall and winter. Sony thought they could ride the playstation love-fest to dominate the next-gen consoles, but it's going to be a lot harder than they thought if gamers prefer to spend their hard-earned money for the lower-cost Wii instead of the pricey PS3.

Probably some good news for Sony is that this survey, conducted after E3 seemed to be for the Japenese market only, with no telling how the U.S and Europe feel towards the price. If however, these figures are even a little bit similar, Sony is going to be facing a serious uphill battle as it asks people to pay $599 for it's machine.
