If I get an unlocked phone off amazon, activate with TSTT...
When digicel does open, can I move to them?
My phone bill is killing me lately, spending far too much on calls...TDMA still.

*dinesh sighs

I heard from a friend last year that the interconnection was done, but so far nothing has happened...mcs playing the arse.

Even better, LAQTEL and TSTT have a deal going on under the table..a merger might be in the cards.

If you buy your phone (unlocked) you don't need to take it to TSTT to get it activated. You go to tstt get a simcard plug that bad boy in your phone and you are good to go.

Oh.
And digicel is going to run on the same tech?
So I could get a unlocked phone online, get prepaid tstt GSM sim thing, and when digicel opens move?

yup, but the real money maker will be, take notes techies, getting cheap phones from one provider (which may be locked) and unlocking it to work with another rival provider.

ps, i wish i had a webcam in the office, i just got an Xmas fed ex package from Digicel with a generic xmas card and a... 2gb memorex travle drive PLOI PLOI!!! we did some work with those guys since last year, i am certain that they just want us to know that they have not forgotten us, they better had and frakking pay better this time though.

i better hide all evidence of this before the co workers reach....

heh.

So you think it's best to hold off completly until digicel comes?Cheaper handsets?

Getting a Razr V3(first model) for 1400..so I'm thinking to pick that up, it's GSM 850 band, so it'll work with digicel right?

cheaper low end handsets, if you want a good phone buy it online if you getting it for a good price, something like a nokia 6670 or Sony K750i

I figure I'll get an el cheapo 1100 for now, prepaid.
Then easter, get a friend to bring in a Mpx220(looking really nice) or a v3i if the price drops
