Not too long ago i was talking to crazy about HSF options

he got a Zalaman 7000bCU

not a bad heatsink but i had the 7000aCU before and there where many tings i did not like about it
only difference was the weight

para bought the alu/cu version for vlad pc

to my main point is Copper, its better than aluminum and but it weigh more.
when its brand new it is de pinicle of cpu cooling, but i dont tink so
why?
new heatsinks made of copper have a special chemical sprayed on it to keep it shiny and prevent oxidation, de sad ting about it, it soluble with water.
what water?
boss we in trinidad, humidity is like doubles in curepe.
when this chemical is gone, copper oxide likes to hold moisture and dust sticks on like concrete.
now why does copper make sence?

now the other white metal, aluminum
this is de oldest heat spreader since we know heat is a issue to computers
its cheap and light but not the best thermal conductor like copper is but the closest to it.
aluminum is still being used by all teh cpu manufactorers
why?
one Al dont need special coating, infact the aluminum oxide is the best protective coating for Al products. Copper oxides develops into a power Al oxide is just ah nice very thin hard film.
no humidity problems and and the HS is not affected so its better in the long run

cleaning HSF is ah pain in de ass. i know some ppl will say get a aircan and blow de shit out of it but, sometimes we need ah brush, and de worst case is we need water ;)

we read alot of reviews of HSF but we never saw a review of a HSF that is used for 5 months and needs cleaning and placed back on the stool for testing.

now i not saying copper suck, only places like canada where water in de air is non existant is a good choice, crazy come to tink about it NY eh dat humid gg with the HSF

now where de HSF cuss out :bleh: :bleh: :bleh:

Forgot to mention NOISE/COST

Usually the bigger the fan the less noise it should make, a bigger fan can move the same volume of air as a smaller fan with less RPMS (A cause of fan noise).

Price, there are a few CU based water coolers (self contained) that will do a great job of cooling your CPU but cost a bundle.

For my PC i choose to go with the BIG TYPHOON, I am really impressed with its performance/price ratio compared with Zalmans latest offering.

I get some awesome temperatures and my FAN even cuts off because the HS cools well passively. Its draw back is its weight and mounting mechanism. Mounting the HS requires mounting from scratch, which wans't a pain for me but was for some ppl with existing systems.

When i finally got it hooked up my weight concerns diminished as I found to be firmly mounted and the heat pipes can absorb vertical shock to a small extent.

I choose this for a friend who asked me to 'sell' it for him, I kinda wanted to try it out badly and the results astonished me. I'll post screeners when im doing my hall of fame.

whey@ opi call out my first shipment that i was keeping secret till i buss d pics
mc opi mc

I went with the 7000B Cu because i needed something to fit in SFF cases (even though i might not go sff still)
Cu is the better performer than AlCu and that is what i based my purchase on.
The air is quite dry up here and i should have no probs with taking my time to clean the hsf. This pc is my big project :P

My first choice for hsf is the XP-90C and XP-120 SI from thermalright. coupled with panaflo fans dem hsfs ownz j00 heat

yeah de typhoon is a nice HSF

infact dat was one of my top HSF on my list
the reason i didnot chose it, i hear from 1 review that if u plan on moving alot with that HSF it will fall and the heat pipes will break.

i had a very nice mod for that hsf too

but the xp-120 is truly ah nice beast
