My cous is looking to get a new cpu and can't decide which to get
he wants to get either a amd 64 3700 sandiego, a amd 64 3800 venice or a amd 64 x2 3800 and he will be overclocking
he will be using it on a the asrock uli mobo since he has a 6800 ultra
also what ram would u recommend he get ?

well thats a easy 1 the SD has extra 512 l2 cache and they both oc to the same roof.

the SD would be a better choice for an expensive CPU with OC capabilities. If you were to choose a venice the 3200 and 3000 are your bets if your intend to do serious OC.
I heard rumour that the new X2 3800s have a revised core and it ocs well. Nice choice on the mobo.
RAM? going for something gosu? TCCD iymc since you can't use BH5

and what about cooling for the 3700 ?
would one of the zalman coolers suffice ?

use stock cooling. the x2 3800 whihc im buying so i reearched the steppings. the good OC are the ones that are a toledo core ut just with 512 disabled. so its basically a 4400+ but underclocked and 512 disabled
