Ever since the latest source update, I am getting lower FPS etc, and the game is looking 'prettier'.
I have all my resol etc on LOW and still nothing...
I get 70 fps or so, and then it clicks down to 30-40
wierd wasnt the latest source update supposed to make the game require less stress from the system, ie make it more compatible for lower ended machines :S

check for spyware/virus/trojan
if those running in back ground it may be causing the problem

seriously though specs should be fine in all honesty.
These are my specs:
P4 3.0 800mhz fsb
1024mb DDR (400 mhz in dual channel mode)
16x DVD-ROM
8x DVD +/- writer
7.1 sound with optical out onboard
6.1 Creative audigy 2 platinum
1x onboard LAN 10/100
1x onboard LAN 10/100/1000
Sapphire ATI radeon 9800 pro 128mb
2x 80 GB HDD 7200 rpm serial ata (need no more space, have a seperate comp for storage)
break out box with ir, remote control, usb, firewire
And as said before it runs fine.

Well as you can see i don'tpost much here, i know lokes from narutomania and i wanted to know a bit more about java etc. so i never bothered to put them there.
Besides, i already have this comp about a year and a half so it's nothing special anymore. Though it's still pretty powerfull.
