What exactly makes something cheap

I've got a little documentary style project I'm working on. Although this pertains to fighting gaming in particular, examples from other genres can be used state your case. So plz answer these questions

What does the word cheap mean to you
What makes cheap player so different from a good player
What does the word scrub mean to you

Some fighting game based ones

Why is throwing considered cheap ?
Are infinite combos cheap ?
Are unblockable moves cheap ?

Please be as clear as possible in answering.

Q.What does the word cheap mean to you
A.Cases where a player will use a move that does lots of damage at a time when u are extremely vulnerable(cah block it) over and over,also the cheap move is usually very easy to get and can be used by n00bs.

Q.What makes cheap player so different from a good player
A cheap player is hated while a good player is worshipped because of his talent,varying style of gameplay and respect for his fellow gamers

Q.What does the word scrub mean to you
A.I knows not this word

Q.Some fighting game based ones
A.Tekken 5,Tekken 3,Soul Calibur 2 (there are others but cheapness in those games comes from development of talent..so it balances itself)

Q.Why is throwing considered cheap ?
A.Because people overuse them as they are easy to get and so effective

Q.Are infinite combos cheap ?
A.To an extent..not all

Q.Are unblockable moves cheap ?
A.To an extent..not all of them

Since im getting my arse handed to me by vlad ill answer the cheap part.

Doing a move that does give the other opponent a chance to defend himself. Combo, the wall hit wall hit combo, wall hit. It could just be my T5 n00bish buy gosh sometimes you just wanna let go of the control and go get something to drink.

imo the word cheap does not exist, scrubs to me are the people who moan of cheapness, i have been the victim of many "cheap" players and i never get sour and call him a cheap ho,i jus say well done @ figuring out that loop and walk off, to me all the "cheapness" always has a way to counter it or needs a huge setup that can be avoided.

Andro pretty much covered my views on what "cheap" is in fighting game terms anyway.

However I dont consider throwing cheap. If you get too close im throwin ur ass!!

Besides most fighting games nowadays have a counter for throwing.

Ive been playing games for far too long to not be able to learn a counter for cheap strats.

So i dont complain i just adapt even if it takes months of blisters.

ok let me tell u this now......a cheap player is one who will resort to one move that is very easy to use , damage effective and sometimes unblockable as u can stick in it.they are the desperate gamers who have absolutely no talent while a skilled player knows all the moves, combos and wen to attack and block thus makin themselves a worthy opponent.unlimited combos are cheap as u do not give a fair fight and thus u ahev no honor as any fool will be able to learn t if u could so u not skilled.throws are not cheap cuz u hadda be crap to get throwed a good few times in one match.

rb is right to a very big point, in a games esp FPS i have been called cheap based on certain tatics i use esp in halo 1 death island i used to use the banshee and also to radar to know when men where going to teleport to run them over, it got me kills and helped me win matches, u may call it cheap but hey a skilled person uses everything at his disposal to win and be better than anyone else... thats the art of being gosu.... this also is a thin line away from spawn camping which i think is unhounarable, but thats another story. even when i am playing fighting games against itachi, i may call him cheap from time to time cuz i admit i am a scrub in the games cuz i dont play them , i only get some action in them when i go by him, well he always plays it more than me so he knows more abt the characters than me, but the difference with me is that after i getting my ass washed a few times i learn how to counter his moves to a certain extent and make it progressively harder for him to beat me :D...


there is no cheapness in games, just open minded gosu use everything to thier advantage and n00bs who complain and dont see the simple fact that becuz they dont take advantage to whats given to them is why they will always lose.


and another point a n00b who uses so called "cheap" plays can always be countered by a good player who knows how to play the game.

(however Jinpachi new freeze move does seem cheap to me)
