For years Microsoft has aggressively defended it's patents with litigation against firms who have opted to use free options such as Linux or more recently Android. With the acquisition of Motorola Mobility, Google gained key patents that allowed them to finally turn the tables. Microsoft lost 80% of the decision to Google.

A most notable effect is Microsoft can no longer legally import Xbox 360's from Asia. Google laid down the following deal. You give us $4 Billion a year or settle. A settlement would sound like truly free Linux and Android for businesses, allowing third party patent holders to set their own fees and allowing the imports of Xbox 360's. Pretty much stopping Microsoft from patent trolling the world.

    Why would anyone like this?

Google has been ramping up their legal team recently for the biggest monopolization plot in the history of the internet and folks are happy about it?

Between Apple and Google I'm not too sure who is going to be the patent troll of the future.
