Square Enix announced today that the classic PS1 RPG, Final Fantasy IX is coming to PC and Smartphones in 2016. While only announced for Japan thus far, it’s fair to assume that the game will find its way to Western audiences at some point in the future.
As seen above, the trailer shows the improved graphics over the original Playstation version. According to the official announcement there will also be achievements, auto-save functionality, a high speed mode and other game boosting features.
“Now you can relive the adventures of Zidane and his crew in the palm of your hands!”

Final Fantasy IX has sold over 5 million copies since the game debuted in 2000 for the Playstation console. The game was also available on Playstation 3, Playstation Vita and PSP on the Playstation Network some years ago.
The mobile version of the game will be available on IOS and Android when the game launches in 2016.
