Call of Duty Black Ops 3 will be missing its single player campaign when the game launches on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year.
Activision noted via the official blog that “the ambitious scope of the 1-4 player coop campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on the old generation hardware.” The last gen versions are being developed by Beenox and Mercenary Technologies, while Treyarch handles the current generation ports of the game.
Instead, the PS3 and 360 versions will only feature the Multiplayer and Zombies mode. The multiplayer mode will include the game’s new movement abilities and characters as it does on the PS4, Xbox One and PC ports. Additionally the Shadows of Evil Zombie Mode will be fully playable, although it was not specified if these modes were scaled down for last generation consoles.
Also missing from these versions will be the new Weapon Paint Shop and its new e-sports tools. These will only be found on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions.
With the campaign cut from the game, Call of Duty Black Ops 3 will retail for $49.99 on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 when the game launches on November 6th and will come with a free copy of Call of Duty Black Ops.
