Trinigamers Guild Wars 2 Report – Are Guilds Important?

    Guilds…

Why should you be in a guild? Why does it even matter if you’re in a guild or not? For an emblem on your cape or weapon? You log on, you play, you log off, so why does it matter if you’re part of a guild or not. Well, let’s take a look at the history of guilds and see what a guild does.

A guild is defined as ‘An association of people for mutual aid or the pursuit of a common goal.’

As a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG), when Guild Wars 1 first introduced the term ‘Guild’, this wasn’t an innovative game feature. Before the term Guild was introduced, it was referred to as clans in other games. In Guild Wars 1, a guild served little to no purpose in the game. There were few benefits to joining a guild. One of the benefits was to get a cape with an emblem (which was pretty cool). Another benefit was to do 8 man structured PvP. While today, this seems relatively insignificant, at the point in time it was important. Other than these two benefits, there weren’t any real reasons to be in a guild.

In Guild Wars 2 however, Arenanet has provided much more incentive to be in a guild.

Emblem: Instead of giving players a cape in this game, instead players can put the guild emblem on their weapon or their armor to make their character look even more unique.

Shared guild bank: Members can put in and take out items and money at their convenience

Buffs: Guilds can research buffs that will give Experience boosts, Karma boosts, Magic Find boosts or WvW boosts

Some people would argue and say that if a guild is inactive, what is the purpose in staying in the guild. Well, Arenanet has provided an innovation which has been unseen in any other MMORPG to date. The ability to be in multiple guilds at once. Unlike Guild Wars 1 and other MMORPGs, a player is NOT restricted to one guild.
A player can be on the roster for multiple guilds, but can only represent one guild at a time. When you represent a guild, you will earn influence for the guild, access guild buffs and see the guild chat. Arenanet has put in this function, so a player will always be able to find active members to play with.

The Trinigamers guild (TnT) exists and is very operational. Members have access to the guild bank, there are constant guild buffs available and the guild armorer and weaponsmith is available. But, if members see the need to represent another guild, it isn’t a problem. This is encouraged to make alliances with other guilds on the Isle Of Janthir server and see a variety in the strategy of other guilds & players.

Just want to remind members, while it is encouraged to join other guilds, it is expected that when Trinigamers sends out the request to summon their members for battle in SPVP, WvW or Dungeon runs we hope everyone will show their commitment to represent (TnT).

    See you in game,
